Perhaps the name might have given it away, but there are several paper products in this shop; Cards, stationary, gift wrap supplies, journals, notebooks, planners, calendars, etc. I can't say I'm an avid partaker in journaling or scrapbooking or have actually ever used a planner efficiently unless doodling counts. I can say that I am an enthusiast card and gift giver, however.
Among the paper products are several displays filled with interesting and beautiful products. Their buyers really do a wonderful job at sourcing many of their products. They carry brands such as Paddywax, Rifle Paper Co., Kate Spade, and Swell among others. Other than the usual paper suspects, I've purchased a shibori tie dye set, a stuffed animal, a tassel pouch, a cosmetics bag, a candle, and chocolate bars (ok, a few chocolate bars...)
I nearly gave this store 4/5 stars for pricing, but I really thought about it. Yes, the products in this store have perhaps a higher price tag than what you're used to. Other than a small sale section in the back, an occasional sale in their paper products, and getting a 10% off coupon for signing up for their emails, there are pretty much no discounts. This does suck, but there is virtually little up-charge for many of their products compared to their retail pricing. For example, Paper Source recently started carrying Compartes chocolate bars at $10 a bar. Yes, $10 might be pricy for a chocolate bar, but the retailer actually sells the bars at $9.95 on their website plus shipping costs. I've seen this photographable chocolate all over the internet, however, it doesn't seem to be wildly available in this area. In this case, Paper Source is actually saving me shipping costs to try this product. I have found this to be the case with several of the gift items that they carry.
Saying all of this, give Paper Source a chance. Maybe not buy 5 Compartes chocolate bars at $10 each (sometimes you just gotta splurge people), but use this store for inspiration or to pick up a card or small gift for someone on a special occasion. They really do source from smaller businesses that produce some quality work. read more
