This update has been a long time coming! Of course they've had my business for the past couple of years, but I can't deny the quality has decreased just a bit.
The wings have been shrinking over the years, I no longer expect big wings from here and this visit maintained that expectation. This has led me to checking out other spots, and I have to say that unfortunately, Peking consistently puts out the smallest wings now. A shame, because they taste the best to me, their fried rice is great though pretty inconsistent. To me Peking's fried rice is unique in that they manage to impart a pronounced smokey flavor on the rice. The problem is that more times than not, it's just an average, good fried rice. Not smokey and great how I've known it to be. Now, we decided to veer off a bit and ordered their Sesame Shrimp. This was delicious, for about 10 minutes. As soon as it cooled down, the excess batter got soggy and the whole thing just became mushy and saucy. The shrimps inside were plump, though a bit overcooked.
I enjoyed the meal, and though it hurts to put the hammer on my childhood favorites, I think it's time to start asking for that old fashioned greatness I grew up on. read more
