This is not a review of the company itself, but more of the event I experienced in the Perforce offices. Bay Area Geek Girl Dinners are held in various different companies. What I find is that the smaller companies tend to make the event a whole lot better. Meaning, the food quality, drinks, people...seem to all be great. They went out of their way to get catered by Brown Sugar Kitchen/B-Side BBQ. The food was very good. The watermelon salad was probably the best item they had. I will rave about their desserts. The only thing that was less than subpar was the red velvet cake. It was dry, but quite flavorful The lemon raspberry cheesecake bars and the walnut brownie bar and the cookie....omg. I died and went to dessert heaven. The peanut butter ball covered in chocolate reminded me of a butterfinger.
They also shuttled folks to and from BART. How awesome is that! But parking was a bit tight for those who had to drive in.
Okay take the food aside, the people at the company were quite prepared for a quick poignant talk. The key speaker was personable (albeit not from Perforce). The "tech talk" was quite engaging. Steph and Ksenia had everyone hanging on their every word in the presentation. It was quite fun.
The space was quite interesting. Their bathroom had flower sinks. Their cubes had doors. It definitely felt like a fun place to work. They really care about their end users which is quite an important point for me as I'm a big proponent for the users of any product. Okay, I'm a usability analyst so I have quite a bias here!
I was planning really only to stay half an hour and ended up staying the whole time. Thanks Perforce for making it quite a memorable night. read more
