5 stars! Why? Because it's an iconic 500+ chain operation that opened in 1916. This location is also convenient for those residing far from any designated shopping area. (I drove over 30 min & saw almost nothing but trees & cotton.) Store hours are 8 AM till 9 PM all seven days. Each location is independently owned & operated. This store (which is 42,821 sq ft on 2.66 acres) opened in July 2022. It is larger than the Milton location, but it lacks the large, beautifully whimsical Piggly statue out front & the classic black & white tile floors, as well as the vibrant red & white tile floors. The older female cashier was very friendly. (Floor staff had to be prodded to speak; I initiated every greeting-- something management can work on.) There's an available ATM beside Customer Service. There's also a Beer Cave-- a chilled room w/ a glass front filled w/ man's favorite beverage:) Wine racks are located nearby. SEE PICS. The buffet is HUGE, popular, & IMPRESSIVE. At $6.49 lb (the same price as last December @ the neighboring location), I arrived just minutes before a large crowd did-- SEE BUFFET PICS. This location also offers a large dining area complete w/ red tables & chairs in the center of the store-- SEE PICS. There were two racks of Piggly Wiggly merchandise containing brand items that unfortunately were quite high in price (when they can be written off as advertising expenses). I did pick up some beverage cozies & playing cards for momentos-- nostalgic:) I noticed something different here--a variety of foil-covered, store-prepared meals in the freezer section. Many were family-sized as well as party-sized-- a nice convenience. Although this grocery store is not large-scale, it offered some interesting items, including boxes of frozen frog legs. You may not find as many brands here due to store size, but every food category was covered. There's even a "Butcher Shop" (SEE PIC) in addition to regular meat cases @ the rear of the store. Some cuts of meats were rather tempting. Prices were reasonable. The store offers a large parking lot that is accessible by two roads. Will I return? Maybe-- it's closer to my friend's Cantonment home. However, the decor of the smaller Milton location tends to call to this Florida tourist-- & staff was down home country friendly there. Nevertheless, this Pace, FL location is a wonderful addition to this longstanding nationwide chain. read more
