This place is amazing. I am glad not a lot of people know about it. It's not the hardest or easiest to get to, but if you put the effort in, you sure will be rewarded. About 45 miles out from Redding on your way to burney falls. Add this to your list!!! Once you hit country road, there's 3.5 miles of paved road then 8 miles of unpaved, but don't worry, it's just a dirt road. You'll pass a narrow bridge on the way with stunning views. The signage to potem will be to your left. There was about 6 cars when I arrived. The hike down is .4 miles. Not bad at all. Sad to see lots of "new trails" being made to get to the falls quicker, causing erosion on the mountain side.
There are a lot of switch backs but the elevation was nothing, making the walk enjoyable. It was both shade and sun but mostly shade. When you arrive to the waterfalls it's like a new world , like the falls should not exist here. The water is cold, but the weather was 100 plus so taking a quick dip was a must. The greenery around the waterfall is so different. Reminded me of a jungle almost. By the time we left ~6pm, we were the only ones left with a mother and her child. She left too, not wanting to be the only one there.
