Preservation Durham holds free walking tours on Saturday mornings. These tours start at the Durham Farmers Market on Foster Street. Tickets can be obtained from Eventbrite. The architecture tour is offered on the fourth Saturday and lasts about 90 minutes. It covers a loop of Downtown Durham. Andy was the guide on my tour as we made it around Durham in the rain. He went to some places that I would not have gone on my own and provided both the background information and architectural details of the buildings. I left the tour feeling I learned more about the history of Durham and appreciating the architecture as well as able to find my way around town easier.
