Situated in a stretch of Argyle Steet which has, somewhat bizarrely, become a hub of cheap, ramshackle computer and laptop repair shops, Priceless Computing's place as the king of the crop is, I guess, cemented by its longevity.
While so many others have gone up to that big computer scrapheap in the sky, Priceless has kept going, valiantly battling against its bigger, flashier step-brother, PC World, which lurks opposite. For that reason alone, I really want to like this place and generally it has developed a good name in the city. However, my most recent visit was ominous, going a little something like this:
Me: "My computer has an unmountable boot volume error, can this be fixed?
Priceless: "No, you will need to buy a new hard drive."
Me: "There's no way it can be fixed?"
Priceless: "No."
Me: "Absolutely no way?"
Priceless: "Sir, there is absolutely no way it can be fixed."
Me: "OK, I'll have a look at it myself."
Priceless: "You are wasting your time, it cannot be fixed."
Two days later; fixed. By me and my friend. Cynically speaking, a money making scan, if I'm being more positive, an honest mistake.
