From Ben's review
Dec 3, 2015
I first would like to start out by saying that you really do get what you pay for. These guys were about 20% less than competitors, but after this ordeal, I'd probably pay up for the next guy. Let's start w the sale rep: tom. He comes off as pompous and full of attitude. Makes it sound like he's either a contractor or the owner himself, but he is neither. He is a low level employee that acts like a high school girl by screening your phone calls when he knows he's going to be berated over the phone bc of the shoddy level of service he's given you. The guys who dug the footings: benji and junior. This maybe more due to the inferior level of communication provided to these two. Tom had informed me that I did NOT have to be here when these two idiots came to dig 2x 29 cubic holes in the ground for our footings. He purposefully said that these two would have ALL the instructions necessary and would not need any guidance the day of. We were dead wrong. I'm glad at least my wife was there bc these two idiots not only had no clue, but didn't even put the brackets up on the wall for the city inspector to simultaneously inspect both the footings and the brackets. This caused a delay in our patio cover bc the installers could not do the job until those brackets were inspected. Terrible planning, loss of a day of work for me, and more headache. When confronting the owner (Jonathan), his literal explanation was, "well, shit happens!" Not only does this statement embody the type of company he runs, he also does some shady things w his contract. See below. From the instructions and the city permit paperwork, the footings were to have steel embedded for the posts. That was not done. Also, the footings were supposed to be dug/poured to provide 2' overhangs on the side. They were dug/poured to provide 2.5' which led to the posts being drilled into the edges of the footings and not center of the footings. Thankfully, this passed city inspection, but was on the verge of failing. What they write on contract and what they give you are different. On contract, I paid for 2 steel posts to be embedded in the concrete footings and 2 steel c-beams for our double headers. They tried to give me standard posts (hollow aluminum), and single headers (not even a steel c-beam). If I wasn't there the day of the install, none of this would have been caught. I called him out on it, so he gave me a discount. The actual patio cover looks good, minus some damage to our stucco from one of the install guys dropping a rafter on it. If you're looking for the cheapest option out there, you may literally get what you pay for. A shady company w barely competent employees, with terrible communication. They will give you a headache and will require you to take unnecessary days off work in order for you to supervise these barely competent employees. Will update w pics. read more
