Greetings fellow Yelpers. We have a townhouse, circa early-80s, a mix of nice construction and the kind of poor construction one finds when it's time to update or fix a problem. Sigh. We knew we needed more insulation in the attic, but after the first winter, discovered how little insulation (read: none) in between garage and the kitchen above. Home construction and codes are not my areas of expertise, so, between my laptop, Google and a couple of helpful sites, I become an apprentice armed with enough information to drive experts crazy. Chris responded via the Yelp messenger, but I also provided my mobile # so we could effect quicker communication. We arranged a time/date for him to assess our issues. He arrived on time, was polite and answered my questions gently. His explanations made sense and he dissuaded me from things I may want, but didn't need, such as a radiant barrier or creating a storage area in the attic. He's right- while I'd love to store more junk, it's just not a great idea to store more in the attic (was not designed as such, and too costly to create). These traits are consistent with others who have evaluated QI. If Chris doesn't, he should pride himself on his honesty. QI's quote was competitive with other service providers. We went with QI because of the positive interaction we had with Chris and all the great evaluations y'all provided here on Yelp. The team arrived on time, were polite, efficient, and effective. They covered the furniture and floor, sealed the wires/plumbing/vents/light fixtures piercing the attic ceiling, blew in insulation into the attic and in between the garage ceiling and kitchen. They also completed other tasks, such as enclosing kneewalls and sealed the joist/joist rim in the garage. Total cost was ~$4K If anyone has specific questions, you are welcome to send a message. We're super happy with QI's work. Note the ceiling drywall cuts- that was done by hand- very good workmanship, allowing the cut-outs to be replaced (greatly reducing potential costs) Not only is the house warmer and far less drafty, it is much more quiet (makes sense- but hadn't planned on the extra benefit).
