A warm and welcoming greeting by the bellman followed by less than friendly front desk staff. We booked for one night on our way home to see a bit of Nice and enjoy the abundant sunshine before the crush of winter. It's a really large hotel and I picked it due to its proximity to the airport. The fact that it was just across the busy boulevard from the pebbly beach was a bonus.
I got the impression that the guy at the front desk was a stickler for the 3 pm checkin time despite the fact that plenty of people were seemingly getting rooms when we got back to the hotel at 2:40. Maybe I did something to offend him but I didn't get much warm fuzzy vibe so we just hung out for 30 min in the lobby.
The hotel seemingly caters to the corporate traveler given the 10 min distance to the airport.
Our deluxe room was on the sixth floor with a beautiful room looking down the beach to Nice. I think there were some renovations as we had a parquet floor and updated furniture. The bathroom was still sub par in many ways with its single sink and small shower with a faulty door. For 1 night it was fine.
An unexpected bonus was the tram line running directly behind the hotel. This made for a smooth and easy trip into the city for dinner. read more
