I'm actually quite a big fan of Rainbow Bakery and visit their Flushing locations quite often. It's definitely one of my favorite Chinese bakeries simply for the variety. They have a lot of variety, y'all (even cream puffs!).
Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a Rainbow Bakery in Elmhurst, which is way closer to me. How ironic that I didn't realize this gem was practically in my backyard all along!
Now, this Elmhurst location is definitely smaller than their Flushing spot and doesn't have the same wide array of goodies. But hey, the prices are fantastic, so you can't really complain.
A fun fact for you: Johnny Lo, the owner of Rainbow Bakery, specifically chose to open his stores in areas with a high immigrant population to create a sense of community. So not only are you getting delicious baked goods, but you're also supporting a place that aims to bring people together.
This is far from a Cannelle Patisserie or a Radio Bakery but if you're ever in Elmhurst and craving some tasty Chinese bakery treats, give this Rainbow Bakery a visit. It may be smaller, but it's got a big heart and some seriously delicious options. read more
