I have shopped at this Ralph's weekly for years now. I found its price competitive with big box stores when shopping with my Ralph's/Kroger card and taking advantage of weekly deals and best customers coupons. I always stop by the clearance racks in the back for items available at marked down prices. Like many other grocery stores, new coupons come out on Wednesdays and expire on Tuesdays.
I usually shop in the late Friday afternoon to avoid the crowd and take advantage of 4x fuel points that can be redeemed at Shell's and Ralph's fuel centers. 300 pts will lower the price $0.30 per gallon. That's $3.30 saved for 11 gallons of gas. Every little bit helps.
One trade-off for shopping in the off-peak hours is I often have to use the self checkout. Sometimes there may be one manned checkout lane open, but there is usually a line. I guess most people still prefer the cashier lane to avoid the hassle of having to look up items by name or picture, or the risk of selecting the wrong item (guilty as charged). read more
