I should probably reduce many previous 5 star restaurant reviews from 5 stars to 4 - or ask special permission from Yelp to score Raphael a solid SIX stars. The meal I ENJOYED here (and it was just lunch!) was the absolute BEST I have experienced in recent memory. Indeed the ONLY meal that ever surpassed this in my lifetime was in 2004 (15 years ago and I still remember everything) was at the (then 5 star) Michelin rated restaurant in Philadelphia which sadly closed in 2013 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Bec-Fin Yes folks - Raphael is THAT good! I had to go upstairs after lunch and thank the chefs personally. Both Mrs G and I had specials of the day. She had the sea bass fillet with lentils, fennel and chive sauce with new potatoes - while I could not resist (thank Goodness!) the ribeye steak with seasonal vegetables, field mushroom and a stilton blue cheese, chive and mustard butter which was superlative. I added some triple fried chips and a glass of delicious red wine. Look at the pictures - truly amazing. The flavor just made my taste buds fly with elated joy. Why would you go anywhere else? Why is my review only the second on Yelp. Hurry up and visit historic Bath, go with a healthy appetite and be prepared for some top rate culinary treat at Raphael!!
