Roger and his team helped us remodel our bathroom. We found Roger through my dog walking group. After we moved into our new fixer upper a few years ago, we slowly began remodeling our 1970s single family home one room at a time (or at least one project at a time). We started with flooring for the kitchen, some light landscaping and this past summer decided to start on the bathroom. Our master bathroom is a small, no frills setup that had an old standing shower circa 1972. The vanity, medicine cabinet and toilet were all original, though we did replace the toilet upon moving in. I called Roger for an estimate but didn't start the job til a year later, and he was very accommodating of this. Our schedule was hard but he can be flexible depending on his availability. He worked around us taking turns traveling out of the country! Roger is also very flexible with adding on things mid project. He will gladly itemize options for you to decide and customize the project as you go. I was able to learn a lot about construction and remodeling as he took the time to explain everything to me and how structural aspects of remodeling work. Halfway through the project, one of his staff mentioned Roger can be anal about getting the job done right and that's when I said, "hallelujah" to myself. You see, if you've ever had a bad contractor work on anything in your home, you'll know the importance of finding a good contractor who takes pride in not just his own work, but the work of all his employees as it reflects on his own name and credibility. But a lot of contractors don't get this, or just don't have the time to do/oversee their best work possible. This brings me to my next point. If you're pressed on money and are looking to save on a project, I recommend taking out items instead of looking around for cheap bids or asking for lower prices. As I've learned observing workers in this industry, mistakes happen (see my kitchen flooring review of the contractor I used) and you get what you pay for. Bids that are too low usually means there is very low margin for error, so if a job doesn't go as planned, sometimes the contractor will not come back to repair extensive and expensive mistakes. They'll just bail. RC Builders is not cheap, but as I've seen the team of very knowledgeable guys Roger uses for various elements of the project, they're worth the money. And I can rest assured knowing it's worthwhile enough for them (yes, these guys are people like you and me with families, and are in it to make a good living with their trade). They're motivated to do a good job and remedy any issues that might happen. Roger works on a wide variety of construction projects so I recommend giving him the chance to supply a quote. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. read more
