This pub is a slippery fella to track down. I had gone straight past the street I was supposed to go down but luckily I looked back over my shoulder (more in confusion than anything) and caught sight of the sign on the roof. The pub was very quiet at lunchtime on a weekday. Split into two bars (like many older pubs), I had a section all to myself. The other section was large with a TV screen and a pool t, the section I was in smaller and cosier. They brew their own beer on the premesis and the one I had (Marathon Ale10p per pint to charity) was quite nice. Add this, the fact there were a few other ales to try and how friendly the barmaid was and I would have liked to have stayed longer.but it was a bit early in the day for that kind of session! read more
