Sadly, our Uncle passed away several months ago. He was a very organized man and planned for literally everything, including his death. In 2007 when RMI was doing business as Rye Monument, he went in to arrange that when the time should come, they would engrave the year of his death on the already existing family headstone. He paid, received a receipt, and kept said receipt for those who he knew would be doing his afterlife planning. When presented this receipt, RMI informed us that they no longer did headstones, they do kitchen countertops; no offer of a possible solution, referral to another company, refund ($250), nothing. Unfortunately, we have been trying to get in touch with the owner, Mr. DiPietro, for weeks to resolve this, to no avail - we're constantly being told they'll call, but they never do. Whether they're doing business under a different name now makes little difference, the services have been paid for. We're not really sure where to go from here but just wanted to express our deep disappointment as to how this has been handled, as if it's not bad enough to lose a loved one.. This is a company in business for almost 40 years (under one name or another), makes me wonder how many more people out there like us have been left empty handed, as well as with an incomplete headstone for our loved one due to their lack of business ethics.
