Casual spot in Berkeley for some delicious Mediterranean food.
My friend and I came by Saturday evening for dinner, and it wasn't too crowded at 7 pm.
You can either try to find paid metered parking nearby, or there's free residential street parking if you're willing to walk a couple blocks. There's a Trader Joe's across the street, but not sure if they offer parking.
It's a small space with 6-7 tables. The menu is straightforward with two pages of options. They have all the standard fare such as rice plates and wraps.
I got one of the house specials - Alexander's Favorite - for $18.95. It comes with thinly sliced lamb and beef gyro with bread cubes in fresh tomato sauce. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was really delicious. I really liked the crunchy bread cube bites mixed in with the gyro and rice, and the tomato sauce was super tasty. Portions were big too, I couldn't finish the dish and took the leftovers home.
My friend got the chicken shish kabob with rice and salad for $17.95. I tried a bite and we both agreed it was solid.
We ended the meal on a sweet note with some baklava for $5.95. We're both huge fans of baklava, and this was some of the best we've had in a long time. Would recommend getting it here! read more
