Took a drive out to Lamont on a recommendation from a friend to try the Root beer king out there. I was pretty impressed when we first arrived. It was a pretty cool looking classic diner with neon lights outside. Waked in and even the interior had the classic diner feel to it. We came in at 8:40 and were told to go orders only because they were closing soon- at 9:30!!!! So not too happy about that after driving 30 minutes but whatever. I always order unsweetened iced tea as I try and keep my sugars down but they were out so strike 2. The staff seemed really bothered that and customers wanted to order food! We both ordered the King burger combo. It took a while but I think that's because they make each order fresh. We got our order and ate it in the car. Not gonna lie it was really good! The hamburger was seasoned to perfection and those crinkle fries were so crispy and the seasoning salt is to die for!! What a waste that the amazing food we ate was ruined by such bad service. Coming in 50 minutes before closing isn't too much to ask and should have been able to enjoy our food in the dining area! But I will return because the food was that good and hopefully I'll be able to give them the 5 star review that the food deserves! read more
