As stated in the terms the time starts upon arrival, but it took them 30 minutes to start moving anything on the truck due to the 'walk-through' to see everything that we had to move. Once they started packing the truck they only loaded three items in the first hour. The very first item they loaded was the refrigerator which ended up on its side in the front garden lying on some plants.
When they were not moving anything, they were on their cell phones. One worker was caught sitting in the truck on his cell phone several times. We even took a picture during the move with both movers sitting on the back of the truck on their phones. When they were working they only put three boxes at a time on the dolly, which could hold five boxes.
When we unloaded the truck, we found that our mattress had a big tear in it, the refrigerator was damaged, one of our book shelves was completely destroyed, our wood bed frame had a huge scratch in it, a box was crushed underneath a heavy object, and a rented moving blanket was completely torn.
We contacted the supervisor of this company right after the move and let her know about the cell phone use and the handling of the refrigerator. We had no idea of the damage to our belongings until we unloaded the truck. We contacted her with photos of the damage to let her know the situation. We were politely told to go pound sand due to the hidden clause of "any damage not reported after their work was finished -- they are not liable." To which I asked, "How are we supposed to know if anything is damaged if it's behind by 30 boxes?"
Ultimately the supervisor acknowledged that her workers should not have been using their cell phones, but she refused to do anything regarding the damaged items or the time wasted by her workers. None of our property that had been damaged will be compensated.
Despite their lack of work ethics the guys were nice and one even helped situate some boxes in the truck after we had them stop working, but the extremely slow pace, the cell phone use, the carelessness of the placement of our belongings, and the complete lack of customer service are the reasons for this review.
If you still choose to do business with this company be sure to have someone stationed inside the moving truck to identify any damaged items as they are damaged. Also, have someone else follow the movers to make sure they are working. read more
