I visited this place on opening day and was excited to try it since I had driven by during its construction. I've eaten here twice. My first experience was decent, but the second visit was a disappointment. Reflecting on it, I think I was initially just excited to try something new, which made me overlook certain issues.
During my first visit, I ordered the pho and banh mi. The pho was decent, though the meat was quite tough. The banh mi, however, was a letdown. At $9, it felt overpriced for its size--it was mostly bread with very little meat and vegetables. I wouldn't order it again.
The second time, we requested the meat for our pho to be served raw on the side so we could cook it in the hot broth ourselves. This helped with the toughness issue, but overall, the pho is nothing special. While it does taste authentic (we found bones in the broth, which is a sign it's made traditionally and not from a soup base), the bones could be a hazard if you're not careful.
Unfortunately, the customer service is where this place really falls short. I believe the owner is also serving as a waiter, but he struggles with communication and forgets requests.
For example, we asked for two separate bowls to split our pho and noodles, but we were charged $2 for to-go containers instead. He even said with an attitude 'we have to pay for these' and ended up charging us two dollars of charge for an extra large when in reality it was just for the containers This felt unreasonable and left a bad impression.
Also, for some odd reason they close at 7 o'clock on Saturday they don't have a Google page with any of their hours of operation.
Overall, while the pho has some authentic elements, the poor customer service and other shortcomings make it hard to recommend. If you're craving Vietnamese food, you're better off going to Saigon cafe. read more
