It's Fairplay. So you don't know what you're going to get food wise. Salon Mexico was our first meal after arriving for the long weekend. It's in an assuming blue house off of the main drag of State Road 9. And to our hearts content, the food was great!
Happy hour margaritas and complimentary chips and salsa was an easy decision. Marg was a tad sweet for my liking, but when you find a marg under $10 these days it's tough to complain. Interesting it was served in a mule mug. The chips passed the crunch test, and salsa was tasty.
We shouldn't have ordered the queso fundido, because the size of our entrées were laughably large. The queso fundido didn't look at all like a traditional fundido when presented, due to a generous layer of ground beef atop the cheese. With that being said, this stuff was BANGING. We filled up way too quickly on this and if you tried us you'd know why.
Enchiladas Divorciadas hit the table and I couldn't believe the size of the plate. Absolutely massive. Green sauce, red sauce and mole sauce. I opted for chicken, which always seems like the most reliable protein for enchiladas. Delicious from the first bite to the leftovers the next day. Even the rice and beans were good (the true tell of a good Mexican restaurant).
Lively setting, massive booths, reasonable prices, locals and travelers alike on a Friday night. One of our favorite meals in Fairplay without question! read more
