This was a beautiful camp to enjoy during summer months. The temperature swings up to 40 degres per day, so be prepared for a bit of a chill.
The staff was attentive to the boys with a mixture of very seasoned leaders and very new. A bit more oversight by camp leadership through spot checking classes would improve this more.
Camp food is always a discussion for summer. The food this year was no different. But all in all, there was enough food, it was prepared safely and the boys enjoyed. The dinnng hall needs to be increased in size to accommodate the larger sessions.
The only reason for the lower score is the number of black bears that moved through the camp, tents and camp sites this year. It was unsettling. We are in their habitat when camping, but younger scouts do not always understand the risks. Even having empty smellable wrappers in camp or their tents is a dangerous combination. Our troop saw 8 different bears in less than a week, with various tag levels with 2 of them entering unoccupied tents. Even the game warden was concerned with young scouts in this situation.
