Sather Lane, also known as Sather Gate Center, is a convenient walkway that connects Durant to Bancroft, serving as a shortcut for students while also offering a variety of businesses.
The food options here cater well to the college crowd, with spots like Kostop for Korean fried chicken, Poke Bar, and T-Toust. I've tried them all, and they consistently provide solid, affordable meals for students. One of the more unique additions is VendiZone, an automated vending machine spot for hot meals and drinks, which took over the space that used to be Take Eat Easy.
Beyond food, the area also has a tattoo studio and a beauty parlor. My personal favorite stop here is Yogurt Park, a longtime Berkeley staple.
While Sather Lane is bustling during the day, it can feel a bit unsafe at night. If you're walking through after dark, it's always a good idea to go with a friend. read more
