Was looking for an authentic Belgian restaurant and Savarin was recommended. We tried a Ghent beef stew (Gentse Stoverij) made from a local artesanal dark beer that almost tasted like a red wine reduction, and a fish filet in a creamy herb sauce.. accompanied by potato croquettes and mashed potatoes. They were both exquisitely delicious, and well balanced.
We finished it off with a Belgian waffle, fresh whipped cream, homemade chocolate sauce (so good!) and artisenal vanilla ice cream. Everything was perfectly delectable.
The restaurant itself is smaller with a nice ambience and excellent service. The wait from the small kitchen is a bit longer, but the food is worth the wait. This is the type of hidden gem with really special food and a homey vibe, highly recommended! read more
