5 star experience across the board with Sav-A-Tree. We had two giant silver maples in a bad shape and required careful pruning. The extra challenge was that a truck couldn't be brought into the yard. Brandon was the arborist who came out to give an assessment and quote. Out of all the companies, I spoke with he seemed the most knowledgable and spent a lot of time walking through what was happening with the tree, his concerns, and his plan of action. He mentioned things like cabling trouble branches and weight reduction to branches leaning towards our house which signaled he had the tree's health and our concerns in mind. Brandon even noticed a few of our bushes were in bad shape and geeked out on what could be affecting them. You can tell he cared about his work. Sav-A-Tree's price estimate was right in line with what my research suggested. I had another company quote me work at almost half the price, but I could tell the cheaper company was going to hack away at the trees and try to get the job done fast rather than right. That would have been disaster for silver maples because they end up sprouting even more unwieldy branches. Another company (which was highly ranked on Google) quoted us 2X the price of the same work that Save-A-Tree had proposed. It took about 2 weeks for them to start the project from when I got my quote. This was partially due to the weather as they would need to climb the tree and couldn't do it if recently rained. Tip - if you are comfortable with pre-paying for the work on their online portal, you get a small discount. I think I saved $80. The work itself was very professional. Brandon came out with his crew and did the majority of the pruning itself so I was confident it was being done right. They worked safely with cones blocking off drop zones, harnesses being worn, and tools being carefully handled. The crew was friendly and shout out to Bob for going the extra mile to leave behind extra wood chips for mulching. This 60 year old man was jumping in and out of the truck filling trash containers full of wood chips and carrying them over to my back yard. The team worked efficiency despite the wind picking up in the afternoon. They arrive around 8:30 and finished by 4:30 with their crew of 4. When they finished, it was like they were never there. The yard was raked clean of all debris. I could finally step out into my yard in peace and not worry about a large branch falling on me. These giant maples used to sway violently any time the wind picked up and now they are gentle waves thanks to the cabling and expert pruning.
