Scott County Park is loaded with everything you could possibly want from a park: a swimming pool, several picnic shelters, playgrounds, campgrounds, and trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. I visited earlier this week for the first time in a long time to try out a hiking trail. Although there was a park map with trail routes at the trail head, then dotted throughout the trail, the name of the trails themselves were hard to find, and further signage would have been useful. Suffice it to say that I hiked along Glynn Creek for about two miles. It was easy going and parts of it were nice, with well built bridges at stream crossings. Glynn Creek was pretty and the foliage was lovely, but there were no major payoffs (vistas, lakes, etc.) along this route. Strangely, a large portion of the trail was grown over with grass. I couldn't figure that out. Was it intentional? I ran into several people as I walked, so you would think between us and the deer that the trail would be well-packed dirt. I like Scott County Park a lot and would come here more often if I lived slightly closer. read more
