I discovered this cute little park in a neighborhood a few blocks from the beach in Deerfield. This quaint neighborhood park offers area residents a covered playground,, swings, bench, picnic table and grill, and a paved walking path. This is a nice spot to take the kids to play or walk the dog.
The most interesting feature of the park is what looks like a brand new pickleball court. The sport, which is a cross between table tennis, badminton, and tennis, was invented by three vacationers on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, in 1965. There are now 36.5 million pickleball players in the U.S and it was named the fastest growing sport in the U.S. in 2024. The park is listed as having a basketball court on the city website so it looks like they replaced that with the pickleball court. There is also a covered pavilion for those watching the game. It is great to see that a pickleball court was added here to meet the needs and desires of the community and to increase traffic to the park. read more
