You know what you're going to get when you walk into a Second Cup, but as a patron of coffee shops who frequently has his Macbook in hand, there's often more to enjoying a good coffee then the coffee itself. More and more I find myself frustrated at the layout of coffee shops that offer patrons free wifi. Yes, I appreciate being able to connect without paying anything. No, I don't enjoy having to stand holding my Macbook in one hand, my coffee in another, while someone tries to squeeze their chair next to me simply to sit next to one of two electrical outlets in the entire joint. And yes, every now and then being able to find a seat at some of these coffee shops would be a welcome sight at times. Considering I usually find myself needing to 'plug-in', the layout, amount of seats, and necessity of an electrical outlet is a must when going out for a Cuppa-Joe. Refreshingly, the Second Cup in Westdale not only offers some good java, but they've got a large welcoming layout that ensures when you're having your coffee other patrons aren't on top of you throwing their power cord over you as they make a last ditch effort to save their laptop from dying. The mood at Second Cup is warm and appealing to enjoy a coffee, read a book, or stretch your legs and get some work done on your laptop.......with a full battery, of course! read more
