This shop specializes in croissant waffles (croffles). From speaking with the owner, I learned that this is their dream to open up their own café. I noticed a lot of intention and thought went behind each menu item. This shop will definitely be my go-to whenever I'm in Ottawa.
Food: Their menu is comprised of savoury and sweet croffles. The flavours are the most unique and creative I have personally encountered for both categories offered at a café. Below is what I have tried so far:
Charred corn and cheese: I can't resist corn so this was the first croffle I had tried. It satisfied the corn craving for sure and you can't go wrong with this combo! Had a hint of smokiness from the char on the torched corn.
Creamy sesame: Sweet but not too sweet. I really enjoyed this one, there are notes of nutty-ness, there are sprinkles of black and white sesame on top. The whipped cream on top I think is infused with white sesame.
Cacio e Pepe (melted cheese and black pepper): I see why this is a favourite! I would definitely order this again. The pecorino romano has a saltiness to it and the right amount of black pepper infused oil/sauce gives a pepper kick (not too overpowering), both ingredients balances out. The croffle here is such a great vessel for the ingredients normally found in the named pasta dish.
Service/atmosphere: All the staff here are friendly and give great customer service. The interior and decor is calming to look at. It is a small café with a good amount of indoor seating mainly for 2 people, two of the tables can be combined to make room for 4 people to sit together. During warmer weather, there is patio seating. read more
