We are so lucky to have found June's wonderful community. Our kids have flourished here, and this play-based school has taught our kids lots of skills that will serve them well in kindergarten. As a fellow educator, I am impressed with the teachers' ability to balance socio-emotional development with academic readiness. We have two very different children--one is quite an introvert and the other an extrovert--and both have been served well here. The teachers are exemplary--tireless, warm, and patient, and also very funny. It's clear from our conversations at drop-off and pick-up, as well as parent-teacher conferences, that they know our children well. We especially love June's advice when we have a behavioral puzzle--her experience with and understanding of developmental stages is so useful. Though she's been doing this for so many years, she is always open to learning and improving her program to be more inclusive and thoughtful for all kinds of students and all kinds of families. I appreciate an educator who is a lifelong learner. We enjoy the various field trips the students attend as well as the ongoing curriculum. I can tell our kids get so much out of the lessons because every subsequent library visit is focused on acquiring books related to what was covered at class or on a field trip. This is a welcome change from life prior to pre-school, when everything was about trains! The environment is engaging and relaxed, but also structured because preschoolers benefit from routine. The backyard is a joy, and if you are lucky enough to have your kid attend, I recommend that you arrive for pick-up a little early so you can watch your kid have fun in the backyard. It's a treat. Speaking of treats, the snacks these kids get are way better than the snacks I feed myself.
