So excited I found out about this grand opening at King and John street and was one of the first 50 people to get a free chicken shawarma poutine (they call it boutine)! I loved their wraps because the saaj bread is baked fresh so I was thrilled they were 50% off. I got the Traditional chicken shawarma which has pomegranate sauce and got the Legendary size which has more chicken than Regular. So damn delicious and one of my top favourites in Toronto and Scarborough! The boutine was good but I thought it had too much sauce. It drowned out the chicken and French fries in my opinion. And it needed more chicken. But still delicious. Customer service was excellent! We got free churro samples while waiting long time in line. Woman at counter taking orders was so friendly with a real, authentic smile which I always appreciated. I also had questions about their menu and she was so patient and helpful. She didn't rush me even though there was a long line behind me. Also I was thrilled to meet Shawarma-Man who is in the crazy, hilarious videos on TikTok and Instagram! He was so friendly and truly took time to chat with me and others waiting in line. Super nice guy! I told him I loved Shelby's shawarmas because they give me FOODGASMS! This location has same cool vibe as location closer to me in Scarborough. And as I've written in previous review, their colourful branding and graphic design on all their packaging is truly outstanding! I'm an Illustrator so I give their creative designs top marks! BTW I found out they were supposed to open for TIFF Film Festival Sept 2024 but the store was affected by the big flood. I told them they will do great business when TIFF returns! Highly recommend!
