SideLines Tavern (under new ownership) opened recently at the Seacoast United indoor soccer complex, located in Epping between Exits 6 and 7 off NH Route 101. There have been other restaurant/bar establishments in this space in recent years. SideLines Tavern has the same ownership as Bogie's at Depot Square in Hampton. This spacious upstairs restaurant and bar has a center bar with high chairs, surrounded with tables and high top tables and several flat screen TVs. They also have outdoor patio deck seating and indoor mezzanine seating overlooking the indoor soccer action. The food menu features appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, comfort entrees, seafood dishes, and pasta dishes. The bar offers 8 beers on tap, can beers, wine, and cocktails. They also offer happy hour specials from 4pm to 6pm. The prices here are fair. I stopped in at SideLines Tavern for dinner after work. The reggae music was initially playing over the speakers as I took a seat up at the center bar. The place was not at all busy on a chilly weeknight. I was given a laminated menu and entree specials sheet. Since it was happy hour, I ordered some Buffalo Rooster Balls ($7 plus tax hh price) to start. The 3 rooster balls had pulled chicken, cheese mixture rolled into balls and deep fried and smothered with buffalo sauce, served over leaf lettuce and bleu cheese on the side. These rooster balls were very good and sort of similar tasting to Tuckaway's (they blender their chicken). For an entree, I went with the Spaghetti & Meatballs ($18.72 plus tax) which was prepared fresh to order by the cook. The very generous portion of spaghetti & meatballs was served in a big bowl, soft cooked vermicelli, topped with red tomato sauce & 9 small very firm meatballs. The side salad had leafy lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, red onion, cucumber and dressing on the side. Toasted sub roll bread slices were also included. After I was done, I requested the check which was $26.83 (cash)/$27.91 (card) with tax and before tip. Overall, the buffalo rooster balls were very good and the spaghetti & meatballs with salad & toasted bread was very filling to eat. They used mostly paper plates/bowls, plastic utensils, and plastic cups, probably to minimize doing dishes. The pasta dish was served in a big ceramic bowl. The staff here was very accommodating. I watched football highlights during my meal and the background music was changed to soft rock. I would come back again to try other things here including the fish & chips and the firecracker burger with hand cut fries. read more
