This is a local joint, right off the 54 and on the outskirts of Eldon. I have been here several times and the food has been legit, each and every time. On different nights of the week, they have food specials, and on Tuesday, it's AYCE fried chicken. Truly, some of THE best fried chicken I've ever tasted. It takes awhile to get it, as it seems they only cook it to order, but it's way worth it. The first time there I had no idea I could ask for all dark meat and wound up with a mix. I truly dislike breast meat because it's usually dry, however here at the Silver Dollar, it's pretty darn good. That said, I still get all dark meat. It's slightly greasy, juicy, slightly salty yumminess. This is straight out restaurant supply, comfort food, nothing fancy or experimental, but it's filling and decently priced. The salads that come with the meals are all iceberg and my husband loves that. He doesn't like, what he calls "rabbit lettuce salads" so this is right up his meat and potatoes alley. Except for one time, all our servers have been very friendly and professional and today was no different. It's interesting to me that this is both a smoking and non-smoking restaurant, with no walls in between. The smell of smoke is still on the non-smoking side but certainly not as bad as on the smoking side. Restrooms are clean, parking is plentiful and the pies are delish!!!
