After a breath-taking hike to Winkelmatten, our group of four stopped in for a coffee and a pastry. It was one of the best eating decisions of our two week trip. The setting, the pastry, a delicious apricot kochen and the co-owner Barbra made dinner decisions easy in a town full of options. We came back for dinner that night.
Dinner was superb! The menu is presented on a chalkboard and they have a full dinner option [ours was 59 CHF]. The salad consisted of local greens, picked that day, and the dressing was light and complex. Ours had an underlying flavor of curry, eggplant, pine nuts and supported by the balsamic vinegar. Our companions had pumpkin soap that was as delicious as it was unique.
Dinner was venison. It came with a pasta made by the owner/chef. I can only describe it as fried macaroni. This was a delightful surprise and complimented the venison. The venison was wonderfully prepared and the best I have ever tasted.
The staff was professional, friendly and a compliment to the truly excellent food that was served. I hope your dinner here is as satisfying as our was. read more
