This explosive ocean geyser is one of the Oregon coast's many geological wonders and well worth a visit - especially at high tide when it will be going off in its full glory! The Spouting Horn was a sea cave ceaselessly thrashed by relentless waves that ended up causing a hole to form in the top. During high tides and stormy weather, waves come crashing up into Cook's Chasm and into the bottom of the Spouting Horn, building the pressure up through the narrow hole and BOOM!! Water explodes out of the top in a massive plume! It's spectacular! On a good day you can feel the waves booming in your chest as they come barreling into the chasm and shooting up out of the horn. Truly something to experience! You'll find the Spouting Horn near Thor's Well - another fantastic natural wonder. Amazing views and tide pools abound here at all tide levels so it's worth exploring any time. There are paved trails leading down from the parking area and info signs - you can't miss it. No bathrooms but great location right off the 101 and close to the lovely town of Yachats. read more
