We visited Storms in Lampasas after a freezing camping trip in Dinosaur Valley a couple of years ago. We thought the food was great but in hindsight now we don't know if it was because we were so excited to finally have a hot meal that we didn't have to prepare ourselves and we ate in our car in the drive in since it was the first year of the pandemic.
Last week we stopped at the Hamilton Storm's since we had a good experience a couple of years before at a different location. This one did not have a drive in (but does have a drive thru) option so we chose to eat inside instead of on the outdoor deck.
The food was fine. I ordered the same as last time, steak fingers with fries, toast and salad. What I had a hard time getting over is that the interior looks like it is in serious need of a deep cleaning. Also, an employee was playing loud heavy metal so the visit wasn't entirely pleasant. I probably could have overlooked it if the food had been delicious. I do like their fries because they look and taste like they're made in house and remind me of the ones my mom used to make. However, they do need to be salted.
There was a cool old purple car parked outside, I'm not sure if it is always parked there or belonged to a customer. Probably would only come here again if I was starving and there wasn't any other place open to eat at. read more
