This restaurant is a branch off the well known Ryus empire. The service and ambience of the Japanese Tempura restaurant is giving street food. Server was nice and patient, explained all the sides and options well. I went for the spicy chicken tempura bowl. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be made.
The bowl itself though beautiful was unfortunately underwhelming especially for the price. I found the tempura was better seasoned at Kibo (a local Toronto chain restaurant). The tempura as I got the spicy version was also served without tempura sauce which was a bit disappointing. The rice wasn't anything to write home on and finally the chicken pieces were not seasoned in any way which made it feel like I was eating a juicer McNugget with less seasoning. It was served with a miso soup which was good but unfortunately the best part of the meal. For all the other Ryus branded restaurants, I expect better quality and taste especially for this meal being $19 plus tax (not including a drink). I wanted to love it but I don't think I'll be returning here.
Chef's hall is a cafeteria style eatery with access to alcoholic beverages and free water on site. Overall the noise level is good and I enjoyed the ambience of the environment. read more
