I had been very much looking forward to visiting this museum, and they have a lot of really great artifacts to see even though they're still waiting to move back into their original space. The problem was mainly our tour guide. I didn't catch her name because she never took a breath. She walked us from display to display with what must've been a 6-inch binder full of information that she pummeled us with. She said she was a retired school teacher, and I believe it; she controlled every move we made and wouldn't let us move away from, or look at, anything other than exactly what she was talking about. I tried several times to politely let her know we were fine on our own, but the more I tried to end the exchange, the more controlling she became. My mom and I are painters, and we would've liked to get a better look at some of the art on display, but she didn't want to let us stop and look at a few paintings, even though we specifically mentioned our interest. We finally said we had to leave because we had to meet someone. I went in with a very sincere interest; I go to Circus World in Baraboo, WI every year; I have many friends who perform in side shows and traveling circuses. This particular guide killed all interest I had in the museum; information is great, but not when you're being smothered with it. read more
