With the outside lookings of a TAB, the best bits of the Coach & Horses is found behind the tinted glass that I hope keeps out the traffic of Maroondah Hwy in Ringwood.
Inside the sounds of the street disappear, only slightly thanks to the sounds of the pokie machines nearby. The rest of it is the murmur of punters talking as they eat and families enjoying themselves.
The bistro is open for lunch and dinner, so the fluctuation of crowds occurs based on this.
11am - the place is empty
12pm - the place is full
2pm - the place is nearly empty again
The bar staff are nice enough offering all manner of drinks. The running favorite seems to be the shandy for young and old. The meals are great in terms of size - the plate is filled to the brim, but not the mot amazing food I've ever had. Not that much in the way of vegetarian options, unless you want a bowl of nachos or something.
The beer is good, dinners and afterwards - especially on a Friday - can get super rowdy, so if it's family dining you want maybe choose a lunch. read more
