The Short Version:
Cute cafe/bar. They sell coffee and tea, wine and beer, and lighter food fare.
The Long Version:
Came here with a friend who was visiting Ottawa from out of town to catch up a bit. It was the perfect place since I was looking to have a tea and my friend wanted a glass of wine.
The Commons is owned by the same person who owns Kichesippi Beer Co. (the brewery out in Bells Corners). So they sell Kichesippi beer, as well as beer from other local breweries. They sell Canadian wines as well as International wines but only those not readily available at the LCBO. Their coffee is from the local coffee house Happy Goat. They also source their donuts from Happy Goat.
I got a London Fog ($4.50) and my friend got a glass of Pinot Noir ($12) - sorry I didn't pay attention to the brand.
My London Fog was great. It wasn't too sweet and had a moderate Earl Grey flavour. The flavour could have been more potent but I like my tea flavours really strong, probably more than most people.
My friend enjoyed his wine.
The interior is nice, it feels like a cafe with the added bonus of selling alcohol. It was a great place to catch up because it wasn't too loud nor too crowded.
They sell food as well, but only items you'd expect to find at a coffee shop like sandwiches and wraps, muffins, cookies and stuff like that.
Staff were pleasant. And the owner was there, training staff.
They only recently opened up permanently in the Fall of 2025 but the owner had been testing out pop-ups in this neighbourhood for a few years.
Street parking only.
