A Hidden Gem in Ogunquit:
What started as a spontaneous stop on a misty, pre-Memorial Day afternoon turned into the discovery of our new favorite coastal spot. The Lobster Shack in Ogunquit proved that sometimes the best finds happen when you least expect them.
## The Experience
Visiting during the quieter shoulder season had its perks - we practically had the place to ourselves, which let us truly appreciate the relaxed, authentic Maine atmosphere. The timing also revealed a pleasant surprise: their dog-friendly patio policy. While we'd left our pup at home this time, it's wonderful to know future visits can include the whole family.
## The Food
**Caesar Salad with Lobster** - This was the absolute standout. I'm not exaggerating when I say there was a generous portion of fresh, succulent lobster piled on top. The quality was exceptional, and the quantity was impressive - definitely worth every penny. This dish alone has earned a spot on our must-return list.
**Fish and Chips** - My husband's choice was equally satisfying. The classic preparation hit all the right notes, with crispy batter and flaky fish that showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality seafood.
## The Setting
The interior has that charming, unpretentious coastal vibe that makes you feel instantly at home. What I particularly appreciated was seeing their outside order window, clearly set up for the busy summer season. It's that kind of thoughtful detail that shows they know their community and cater to both locals and visitors.
## Final Thoughts
The Lobster Shack captures everything you hope for in a Maine seafood spot: fresh, generously portioned food, a welcoming atmosphere, and that authentic coastal charm that can't be manufactured. The lobster Caesar alone is worth planning a return trip around.
We'll definitely be back - specifically for that incredible salad, and to try more of what this gem has to offer.
