On this drizzly afternoon, my family and I decided to revisit The Maple, a long-standing neighborhood restaurant we hadn't been to since pre-pandemic days. The dining room was quiet, and we were seated in a cozy spot by a large picture window--a perfect setting for the weather.
For our meals, the kids and I opted for the fish and chips, while my husband chose the chicken pot pie. We were informed that the pot pie would take about 20 minutes to prepare, but it arrived faster than expected--a pleasant surprise. All our dishes were served piping hot, which we greatly appreciated.
The fish and chips were a hit: the fish was perfectly seasoned with a light, crispy batter, and the fries were golden and crunchy on the outside, fluffy and steaming on the inside. I upgraded to truffle fries, which came generously coated in Parmesan and herbs with a distinct truffle aroma--a delicious touch.
My husband's chicken pot pie was hearty and satisfying, filled with tender chicken, potatoes, peas, celery, carrots, and onions in a rich, creamy gravy. While he noted that the puff pastry crust wasn't as flaky as he'd hoped, the filling more than made up for it.
We all cleaned our plates and left feeling content. While The Maple's prices are on the higher side--we noticed an appetizer priced at $30--it felt justified for this special outing. That said, it's more of an occasional treat for us than an everyday stop.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the overall experience was a reminder of why The Maple has remained a neighborhood favorite. It was a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon, and we wouldn't hesitate to return for another special occasion. read more
