Daryl Moss did a great job cleaning my roof. He showed up on time, and genuinely seemed concerned with doing a good job. He was kind, courteous and did more than what was asked to be performed, sans one request. I asked for a roof certification to be performed at that time as I was preparing to sell my home. Daryl talked me out of it, stating the roof was in great shape, and a home inspection would tell the story well enough...No need to spend the extra money. Payment received for a job well done. This is where the positive experience ended. I reached out a few weeks later, because the potential buyer of my home really wanted the roof certification. When I approached Daryl about getting the certification - first, he didn't respond at all. I reached back out after four days, trying to get a response. When I did get a response back, the message was' "This is not a warranty or guarantee of any kind. It's a roof report by a licensed contractor. Cost is $500 + tax." Fair enough, the terms had already been explained when originally requested. However, that is not the price quoted. When I explained that is not what was quoted, and that I felt I was being gouged for a service that had essentially already been performed, he replied by denying that he had ever quoted that price. I forwarded the original estimate he had provided showing that the actual price quoted was $250. Daryl apologized, and said he would send over the certification. Enough said, we're all stressed right now. Let's move on, right? or so I thought... When the report was received there was language in the first paragraph of the report that was ambiguous that left me, my real estate agent and the buyer/buyer's agent all confused as to what he was trying to say. I asked Daryl if he could clarify the language. Instead I received a condescending email reply stating what the "simple math" is for figuring out my roof's estimated lifespan. I clarified my request, stating that the report was unusable as it was. Daryl, kindly added more clarification in an additional email later in the day, which I appreciated. I put the check in the mail immediately afterward. To my own fault, I should have replied to the email letting him know that his response had been received and that I would pass it along. Unfortunately, instead of being asked if that clarification had been enough to help ease my buyer's needs, I woke to a defensive, aggressive email the following morning stating that his "...product had been provided. It worked for other people/banks. Sorry you don't like my language. Payment is due." After all the hassle and unnecessarily rude customer service, I responded in kind letting Daryl know just how much I appreciated my experience. Probably not the best approach, but after 25 emails back and forth trying to keep the peace, I had had it. He responded, saying "Don't bother sending the check. Your money is no good here." Long story short, he is good at what he does, which is clean roofs. That's it. If you plan to use his services once, you'll probably be ok. Just keep your mouth shut and don't ask questions. And watch where he puts his cleaner product. He killed a bunch of the flowers in my beds. If you want to be spoken to condescendingly, rudely and defensively, this is your guy. If you want actual customer service, be treated with respect, or have the room to question the product being offered, you're better going somewhere else. I have been a contractor in the construction industry for over 25 years. I have never had such a poor experience. read more
