Tip: What you see when you are ordering through the Tim Hortons app may not be accurate. I ordered a blueberry lemon tart through it and found out that it wasn't available upon picking up my order. I had a deal to get an iced coffee for $1 at Tim Hortons. I had completed a survey and got this deal as a thank-you gesture. It was time to redeem it. Last Saturday, I had finished eating lunch at Swiss Chalet. Across from it was this Tim Hortons, which is a combo store with Wendy's. I pulled out my Timmy's app and ordered these items: - Medium iced coffee - Blueberry lemon tart - Chocolate toasted coconut donut - Honey crueller donut I paid through the app using my Tims Card. I got a gift card online, so it came in handy. I had no issues driving across the street and heading to the drive-thru. It's rather scenic with trees and grass. At the order area, I let the woman know on the other end that I had an order under my name. She was pleasant and said that I could head up to the window. I got a man at the window. He delivered the news that this store didn't have any blueberry lemon tart. Bummer. He asked if I wanted anything else. I don't like on-the-spot swaps when I don't know the menu well enough to know if the swap is worth what I had paid for. I'm not a regular Timmy's customer. I only know the prices of what I generally order when I'm here now and again. I also wanted the blueberry lemon tart to try, so it was disappointing to not get what I had paid for. I was annoyed for a bunch of reasons. Shouldn't an app like Timmy's account for inventory? I asked that question and he said that staff were "too busy" to update whether it was available. I get being busy. However, you are also promoting an item through your app that you can purchase, but you are misleading the purchaser of actually receiving it. He offered me the custard tart. I've had it before. I eventually chose it, which I found out after reviewing the menu at home that it was the same price as the lemon blueberry tart that I wanted. Good move there. He suggested getting a muffin. The strawberry cheesecake-filled muffin was ten cents more than my original item. I wouldn't have know that fact. I wasn't feeling getting a muffin with cheesecake filling. He then offered a donut. I had just bought two. Each one was $1.79, so I would have been ripped off if I had got one in lieu of the tart. I actually knew the price of a donut. I asked if I could get a refund. Even though I paid with a Tims Card, the refund would go on a credit card instead. Such a pain. Why can't it be loaded on a Tims Card and hope that it's far more automatic than waiting days for a credit to appear on a credit card? That's why I got the custard tart. It should not be so difficult to get a refund. Frankly, I shouldn't have been in this situation. If the app accurately told me that this store was out of blueberry lemon tarts, I wouldn't have ordered one. It's also why my rating is three stars. The information that I got to purchase a lemon blueberry tart was inaccurate. I was disappointed that I didn't get what I had wanted. Getting a refund on a credit card that I didn't use instead of on my Tims Card, which was the payment method that I did use, was more complicated than it should have been. I will say that service was great and this man apologized for not being delighted with my order. I grabbed my items and drove off. I had my iced coffee as I drove off. It was yummy and cold. I do like an iced coffee at a cheap price. I had the honey crueller when I was parked. It's my favourite donut. This one was light and airy. It had icing sugar, but it wasn't as sweet as it generally is. I did not get any napkins. Luckily, I had some in my card. Napkins are necessary when you are eating sugary, messy donuts. This place has both the coconut toasted and chocolate coconut toasted donuts. I went with the latter. Both donuts are so good. I would have been crushed if this chocolate coconut toasted donut was also unavailable. I loved this donut. It's my comfort cakey donut. It's perfect. Sadly, it's not always on the menu. When I do spot it, I must get one. I had the custard tart when I got home. It tastes better when you heat it up. I liked the flakiness. It is on the sweeter side, though. One of these days, I'll get a blueberry lemon tart. I don't trust what I see on the app for this location. It's best to simply order it at the store to figure out whether it's in stock and then pay.
