Can you believe this was my first time checking out Tippi's Tea in El Paso? I've always wanted to try the one off Doniphan, but for one reason or another, it never worked out. But now they've opened a brand new shop next to Peter's German Grill & Bakery, which is always a favorite of mine. It's super convenient and has plenty of parking. When you walk in, you definitely get that tea shop smell, kind of musky and grassy. Personally, I love the smell of tea shops. The tannic aromas usually remind me of a nice winery, but more floral than fruity. The vibe here is really positive, from the cool artwork on the walls to the well-lit interior, and the super friendly tea enthusiasts working behind the counter. They've got a lot of different bowls on their menu, which I guess is their specialty, but I'm not a fan of grainy acai or mushy cold oatmeal stuff, so I didn't order any. Although I must admit, they do make for a refreshing and healthy dessert. What I'm really excited to try is their vegan gelato from Italy! As for their tea, I went with an iced rose latte, and it was absolutely delicious. The whole process was interesting too. They let you smell the tea, scoop it out, measure it, pour hot water over it, and steep it just right. Then they asked me what kind of milk I wanted, whether whole or almond, and what sweetener I preferred. I went with agave and patiently waited for 10 minutes. In the meantime, I took the opportunity to snap some pictures and videos of the place. Oh, and the bathroom was clean and bright, with a quirky blanket on the wall that my daughter insisted on posing with, while my son wasn't too keen on the idea...haha. If I was a student I'd go to study here. They've got plugs all over the benches, long tables for group study, and the whole area is so nice and bright--it just puts me in a good mood. I'm really glad they opened up another location and it's convenient because I always go to Peter's since the kids meals are like $3 for a quality German hot dog and a drink! That's like Costco prices! If you're feeling hungry, don't forget to swing by Peter's for a bratwurst, a pretzel, and their amazing German chocolate cake. Or if you're like me and are at Peter's already go next door, and swing by Tippi's Tea for great drinks and healthy desserts!
