I'm so excited to be inspired enough to write my first review on yelp! 26 Years old with not that much money, but rich in dreams. After 21 days straight morning to night my mentor and me completely rebuilt my extended cargo express van into my new home! Me, myself and I off to see the world. First stop on the list was Connecticut to work at a summer camp teaching kids how to sail. It honestly wasn't the camp that excited me as much as the adventure there and afterwards would entail. If I worked at the camp it would give me enough money to continue my travels down to Mexico. Nayarit is where I ended up landing to volunteer my time from baby turtle sanctuaries, volleyball with kids, to landscaping at the community centre HONESTLY though.... Traveling from British Columbia - Connecticut I had a break down in Copper Falls State Park. My lower control arm rusted through my A frame and my whole front end sank as I tried to reverse. As Soon as I got ahold of Tomlinsons 24 Hour towing they reassured me they would be there. They traveled from Ashland to the park to pick me up in the late evening after dark. After getting my pride and joy hooked up to the tow truck my home was out of commission. So I thought anyways... Dick and Bryan I believe his name was either way they where absolutely amazing and parked my van underneath the bright lights of their shop and allowed me to sleep in my van for the night in a safe environment. As soon as I woke up the part for my van already arrived at the shop! They put her in the garage and started working on her ASAP! The first hour was full of laughter and great conversations in the shop. Any time I got curious about the van they allowed me to pop into the garage to see what they were doing! Than Carolyn (Herself and her husband Dean own the shop) Invited me to a birthday pizza get together at another tire shop close by they work hand n hand with. (GOODYEAR) Everybody excepted me into the family. I met the grandpa to the son! Never once was there one awkward moment :) After the pizza party we said our goodbyes and Carolyn tried to give me a tour but the shop called and said the van was ready! Once we got back I realized I didn't have enough american money on me. so Carolyn drove me to the bank and allowed me to use her bank account to exchange currencies. Everything was fixed but they noticed the brand new tires I got put on my van specifically for the trip when I was in Canada... WAS THE WRONG SIZE for my van. They sent me over to Good Year Tire and there some of the staff waited after hours for me to get there. I was in a bind and had no more american on money on me. They treated me as if I was their own daughter. walked me through what process I should do to get my money back from the previously purchase tires and swapped my tires for the right size tires and didn't charge me a dime. It was strictly out of the goodness of their hearts. They seen a girl in need of some help and they opened everything they had to me. from love and encouragement to food and offering me a roof over my head. I better stop as I probably lost 90% of my readers! But if you made it this far... if i'm ever back in ashland I know i will specifically be stopping there to see my second family!!! read more
