Nice little recreational area/Pond in Milton. This pond has two parking lots (free, paved, well-maintained, visible from main roads) one of which is adjacent to the Glover Elementary School's student pick-up lot at 255 Canton Avenue.
The pond is wrapped by a single loop path roughly 3/4 mile long. The pathway is well-cleared and is a dirt/gravel mix, perfect for walks/jogs but also ideal for baby joggers or even a bike. The path is predominantly flat and skirts the pond for beautiful views.
The pond itself is fairly small, and the posted rules state: 'NO fishing, NO boating, NO swimming'. Also, there is a posted 'Dogs MUST BE LEASHED' law, all per the order of Milton Police. But unfortunately, people don't seem to follow this rule, and no one is actually taking notice, so not only will you most likely encounter free-roaming K9s, but there are usually some landmines to avoid on the sidewalk leading in to the park, and on the trail itself. There ARE plenty of trash-cans, so who knows why some dog owners abuse the laws and/or refuse to clean up after their pets. It's a sad pattern of behavior you'll see at most parks in the area though, so I digress..
This is a nice place to bring little ones to feed the ducks, sneak in a quick nature walk, or sit for a picnic. There are not any tables, but there are plenty of (backless) benches.
During the schoolweek, you'll undoubtedly hear the kiddos on the playground at Glover Elementary, so it's not super peaceful if you're there during a recess session...in fact, you'll wonder if the children are being attacked by zombies...
But if you're lucky, and you time your visit just right, you're likely to have a quiet, peaceful, solitary experience here at Turner's Pond. read more
