I'm a huge supporter of independent restaurants and don't visit chains all that often but after hearing great reviews of the Birmingham Turtle Bay we thought we'd give the Derby restaurant a try. We popped in for a lunchtime 'light bite', I was a bit disappointed with the limited veggie options and the menu didn't include 'v' by the vegetarian meals either so you had to scan through each dish to suss out which were suitable - annoying. The food was average, mine wasn't warm enough and the portions of sides were small (yet pricey!) On a positive note, the staff were all really friendly, the decor and music were fab too. I didn't try any cocktails but I hear they are delicious and I imagine this would be a nice place to go for a few drinks (especially during happy hour - 2 for 1!) but with such an exceptional quality and range of established restaurants in Derby I doubt I will return. read more
