Technically Newtown Square, PO is slightly closer to me, but it takes me 10-15mins fighting my way down 252 to get there in stressy traffic, multiple lights, and horrid parking. The Devon PO is about 5mins, all residential roads, no traffic, a breeze. THIS is my bias in favor of this place. It totally beats the mayhem of 252 getting to Newtown Square or Paoli POs.
Yes, the parking at Devon PO is something you have to initially figure out, but after you've done it twice it's very simple. It's a tight squeeze to pull into one of the front spaces, but there are several spots along the side of the building, and up toward the train station if absolutely necessary. I have never seen the spots in their immediate side lot all filled (even during peak holiday shipping times).
This is a tiny PO spacewise, but they tend to the lines decently. Yes, sometimes I have waited a while, but this is NOTHING compared to nearby alternatives (Paoli, Newtown Square, Southeastern).
Devon usually has two clerks running at once (their max available), and while not super fast, they work steadily and there is no unnecessary delay (which is not the case anywhere else I've mentioned).
Hours are limited; early close, they offer more limited hours on weekends, and they are not open very early in the morning compared to other local POs. This is odd considering they are right next to a popular train station. They also close FREQUENTLY for random technical difficulties, and you trek all the way there to find a sign on the door "closed early" which is not fun.
Still, annoyances and difficulties aside, this is a handy location that beats the hassles of alternatives enough to be the most worthwhile. read more
