From Tracey's review
Jun 28, 2020
Palmer's is top notch in my book! I am rarely out and about in the Fairburn area so imagine my delight when my cousin suggested this great restaurant by her new home. I was excited because she was raving about this place with great drinks and since we've been on lockdown we haven't been able to come together for libation and a meal. What's funny is that I loved this place so much that I came back again in the same week so this review will contain two separate meals with the same wonderful experience. On my first visit I ordered started off with the "Joey's in the Sky with Diamonds". It is a delightful summer craft cocktail. It's light, crisp, and a perfect blend of all the flavors of chamomile gin, honey, lemon, and spice cherry bitters. As for my meal, I ordered the Filet Mignon and was happy with they way the meat was cooked but would have liked for the meat to be a bit more seasoned. I'm a firm believer in being able to eat meat with or without sauce. I needed steak sauce to add flavor but the meat was tender. I also loved the combination of the Horseradish Mashed Potatoes, asparagus, and fried tobacco onions. They were all a delightful trio. On my second visit I ordered the Catcher in the Bulleit Rye. It was really, really refreshing. It's botanical flavor of the sweet vermouth coupled with the rosemary syrup bitters really takes this bourbon based cocktail to the next level. It was so good that when we got home we tried to duplicate it. It would be a nice drink paired with and evening cigar. As for my meal, I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes. I know, I know you're probably saying, "That's not a meal. It's an appetizer." But I beg to differ. Another customer made that suggestion on my first visit and I am glad I took him up on it. These are some of the best fried green tomatoes I've EVER had. They were thick and crispy and the pimento cheese, candied bacon jam, & red pepper coulis...Oh.My.Goodness...talk about a party on your tastebuds. With every bite there was a burst of sweet and savory flavors that I have been craving since I left. And the DESSERT is worth my 51 minute drive from Buckhead every week. We shared the Belgian Waffle. It was topped with a creamy salted caramel ice cream and pecans and when I say it's one of the BEST desserts I'ver had in my entire life I mean it. When the server described it she was right. It is like in the old cartoons when you would see the character being led by the aroma of the food...almost hypnotized...that's exactly how good it is. You feel guilty with every bite but in the end you are glad you took the plunge into this delicious delight. All in all, I had a great experience at Palmer's. The service was friendly, attentive, and expedient. I am also glad to see that everyone is abiding by the Covid-19 rules. They are wearing masks and handling the our drinks and food with care and that is greatly appreciated since we've been in our homes longing to have some semblance of normalcy. read more
